About Us

Who we are

Nepal is one of the least developed countries in the world. Population growth, under employment, geographical barriers and poverty are some of the main constraints for community development, especially in the remote hilly and rural areas community. To improve living standards of community people in the remote area of far western, mid western, western, central and eastern parts of Nepal and contribute to overall community development of the area as well as Community Development Programme (CDP) Nepal is given first priority to center region and far western’s remote communities and willing to assist financial support from national and international donor agencies and local government.

History:

CDP Nepal is a non-profit And non-governmental and its solidarity association for pure community development work’s organization. It was established in 2006 in remote community as CBO, but it was registered in 5th February 2011 by a group of community development professionals in Lalitpur District Administration Office with the aims to empower vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged populations and especially focusing to women and children in remote villages and enable community to be self-reliant for the future. The CDP is designed to create conditions of economic and social progress for remote community with its active participation, transparency, responsiveness and fullest reliance upon the community initiative for helping a community strengthen and develop itself. The CDP believes that people who live in community, share their best ideas, relationships, new learning, innovation, best practices, present community issues, available local resources, present needs identify and common hardships for community development activities.

CDP Nepal is registered under the organization registration Act 2034 of Nepal with the District Administration office, Lalitpur Nepal (Regd No 3247/2067/68 and recently renewed on 25/06/2073 BS) and is affiliated with Social Welfare Council under section 13 of the Social Welfare Act 1992 (SWC No. 31706/2067/68) and registered in Inland Revenue Department Office (PAN no. 304741348 and Tax Free Certification No 4662/2067/68)

Vision:

A self-empowered and self-sustained society; where all kinds of discrimination are absent in deprived community.

Mission:

The mission of CDP Nepal is to create opportunities for the self-empowerment of poor, vulnerable and socially excluded people to fulfill their basic needs and achieve social justice through health, education, livelihood and community development programmes.

Goal:

The overall goal of the CDP is to strengthen the community development programme through social inclusion, good governance, gender equity, partnership and right based approaches of the deprived community in sustainable way.

Objectives:
  1. To raise awareness build up of deprived community focus on children and women
  2. To support the development of the education sector in the deprived community people
  3. To improve the health status of the deprived community children and women
  4. To strengthen and support health facilities with construction work to provide quality services
  5. To raise awareness of environment and child right protection
  6. To impact national development by raising awareness of education, health, livelihood and community development at the local level
Approach & Strategy:

CDP Nepal always appreciates and respects positive endeavors from individuals, communities and national and international agencies. The CDP always considers the following approached during the programme implementation process:

Approaches:
  1. Partnership: all programmes will be run through different nature of partners with collaboration and coordination with government and non-government organization from grassroots and central level to achieve program quality to change deprived community life.
  1. Social Inclusion: it is the act of making all groups of people within a society feel valued and important in their community and it is central to ending extreme poverty and fostering shared prosperity.
  1. Right-based: it is a conceptual framework for the process of human development that is normatively based on international human rights standards and operationally directed to promoting and protecting human rights.
  1. Accountability and transparency: all the programme activities and corresponding budget allocated for that particular programme are transparent; anyone at any time can have access to this information, if required.
  1. Participatory: we encourage our beneficiaries to participate actively in our programmes right from the needs assessment to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation and sharing of lessons learned.
  1. People Cantered: The community people of the community are central to all our development efforts and interventions.
Strategies:

CDP Nepal is believed on plan of action designed to achieve long term and short term objectives and aims. CDP has developed every three years community development strategy plan for making effective and efficient implementation and to get valuable outcomes.

  1. Integrity – Honest and transparent in what we do and say, and accept responsibility for our collective and individual actions
  1. Sustainability – CDP strives to ensure that benefits realized by organizational and community based activities supported through community development projects
  1. Excellence – CDP constantly challenge ourselves to the highest level of learning and performance in order to achieve greater impact
Principles:

CDP has five principles and it is intended that the following principles will be reflected in the practices of its board, staff and partners.

  1. Inclusiveness – Provide the wider community with opportunities to meaningfully participate in information gathering, planning, direction setting and decision making regarding outcomes that affect the communities’ development. An ultimate goal is that communities would drive this process.
  1. Collaboration – Establish good governance practices and foster partnerships that aim to achieve positive outcomes for all residents. CDP Board aims to assist poor and remote communities in finding solutions to issues that are important to the lives of individuals, families and communities. This includes developing networks between people, encouraging different communities to work together and building relationships with and between those different communities.
  1. Capacity building – Support and strengthen individuals, families and communities to identify needs and develop solutions at a local level. This may involve advocacy, empowerment, education, awareness rising, capacity building, makes sound health, good governance, makes transparency and distribution of resources to individuals and communities.
  1. Equity – Ensure that opportunities and resources available to poor and vulnerable women and children in remote communities are distributed in a just and equitable manner according to their community needs. In addition, all poor and vulnerable women and children remote communities should have the right to access all committees’ services and resources without discrimination.
  1. Responsiveness – Ensure the evolving nature and constancy of change within remote and poor communities are responded to efficiently and effectively in line with community development methodologies and practices. This will enable the demands of the community to be met in a relevant and timely manner.
